Sheer stockings are not only among the most popular forms of hosiery out there, nor are they just a simple vintage item. Sheer stockigns were the only type of lingerie around from the Industrial Revolution to around the First World War. What could be a more iconic symbol of femininity and sensuality than that? Sheers stockings were the original form of hosiery, made from silks normally, then Nylon around the turn of the century. In the USA they are referred to as sheer pantyhose although that term actually refers only to tights today, and still only in North America. They remain one of the most popular forms of underwear in the world and they're a timeless piece of fashion apparel, barely rivalled by anything you can imagine. Sheer stockings are the number one choice for pairing with ball gowns and little black dresses. They are an icon and simply unbeatable.
