What Katie Did are real masters at blending traditional designs and modern ones. Here the most clear classic elements are the backseam and the contrasting colours, something which has been around since the 1920s. But it's the choice of colours and the elaborate foot motif that give it the modern edge. Black legs with a red stripe would not have been seen at the time, nor would the ornate lace-style details under the foot. Yet here they are and they make themselves right at home, so they look absolutely great.
