Marie Jo are one of Europe's most influential designers and yet it an expert at going beyond just Europe for its inspiration. Here, they have designed a collection around the art and beautiful interior design of Japan, with a sakura being the Japanese name for the cherry blossom. Marie Jo are a Belgium company, and thus they have quite an old connection and shared history with the Land of the Rising Sun. Over 400 years ago only the Netherlands, which included Belgium then, was allowed to trade with Japan. All of the precious materials, fabrics, works of art, clothing, foodstuffs and dry goods that cam from the Eastern land came through this tiny corner of Europe, and centuries of this leaves an imprint on one's own fashion, art and interior design. This bra reflects that too, with a subtle and minimalist black and white colour scheme that looks like brushed ink on a silk screen. The nature motifs are typically Japanese and the gentle beauty of this bra makes it a grand and fitting tribute to this nation's old friend. This bra has foam cups that are moulded, and it is underwired.
