Pierre Mantoux's Italian heritage has never shined through quite so cleverly. The first thing you notice is the ornate patterning, the Renaissance swirls, the floral flourishes. But look closer at the design and your see a colour so famous, you probably see it every day. It's Capuchin brown. The Capuchins, an order of monks, wore light brown robes and hoods. That colour gave Italy's favourite beverage its name, "cappuccino", which means "hooded head". Pierre Mantoux's genius and intimate knowledge of their past have blended everything Italy is best known for. Its ancient organisations, its beautiful architecture and its exquisite cuisine, into one design. An astounding and quite magnificent feat.
