Jonathan Aston's Tights
Jonathan Aston were founded just over 40 years ago. This makes them quite a young designer compared to many other famous names out there. So many brands you have heard of that have the status of a household name, were founded nearly a century ago. But this is quite a good thing. A younger brand often didn't need to create more traditional items like fully fashioned stockings to begin with. Instead of creating these traditional and difficult to manufacture items, they began with a head start and began developing fashion items first and foremost.
This meant that Jonathan Aston was able to concentrate on one thing at once, a hallmark of any good invention or innovation. For the first decades of their history, they designed and manufactured their items independently, in Britain. In 2002, Jonathan Aston's tights, stockings and hold ups had become so famous that they were constantly being sought after for collaborations. In that year, they did more than just collaborate. The founder of the company retired and the brand was purchased by Levante, a leg wear manufacturer in Italy that is famous for doing much more on the other side of the leg wear coin. Whereas Jonathan Aston are known for their fashion, Levante is known for their high quality basics.
But Jonathan Aston has not just been absorbed into a larger brand or has been exported to another nation. It is still based right here in Britain and is in a fantastic partnership with Levante, without being absorbed into them.
